Hyderabad: Former minister Harish Rao once again reminded of the efforts made by the previous government for the Telangana irrigation department. Responding on social media platform X on Wednesday, he said, "KCR's efforts have resulted in the Sitarama Project. The waters of Godavari are now reaching the Sagar reservoir, which was once opposed by Congress. At that time, they filed cases in courts to prevent permissions. Today, Congress ministers and leaders are posing for photos at the Godavari waters. Congress, which could not construct anything but only criticize, should understand KCR's greatness now."
Harish Rao continued, "The Sitarama Project is a result of KCR's efforts. Due to Congress's incompetence, the Sagar reservoir is facing drought. Those who said that this project wouldn’t provide water to even an acre, what will they say now? The drought in the Sagar reservoir is a result of Congress's inability to protect Telangana’s water rights in Krishna waters. Due to the incompetence of the Congress government, 10,000 cusecs of Krishna water was being diverted to Andhra. In this situation, the only way to help farmers was to capture and lift the Godavari waters. Former Chief Minister KCR had foreseen this and designed the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project."
"Despite the hurdles created by the Congress, the Center managed to overcome the conspiracies of the Congress party and completed 90% of the work. Back then, Congress leaders claimed that the Sitarama Project would be futile. They filed court cases to block permissions. But KCR, with determination, cleared the legal hurdles and secured the difficult forest and environmental clearances, completing the Sitarama project. As a result, today it has become a blessing for the farmers of Khammam district, who were trapped in drought conditions. Now, ministers and leaders are posing for photos while lifting Godavari waters from the Sitarama project, a project built and ready by the BRS government. KCR's efforts are the reason behind this."
